The purpose of STAP is to identify and improve the performance of weak students in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It has been observed that the most important factors hindering the academic progress of students are lack of self-confidence, lack of confidence in the medium of instruction or due to lack of interest in the course. These students perhaps do not communicate, do not seek help, and/or have difficulty adjusting to the college environment leading to poor participation in the classroom and other academic activities. Class advisors & the concerned subject teachers motivate, appreciate and assist them by taking special classes and clearing their doubts.
As advanced learners acquire new concepts and knowledge quickly, the teachers involve them in activities that can accelerate their pace of learning by providing them with more challenging and engaging activities. Accelerated learning is a part of engaging an advanced learner which includes a broad spectrum of options—from assigning advanced texts on the topics or giving independent projects that permit them to inquire about a topic more deeply or helping in preparation for competitive exams etc.
Special Assistance is also provided to students preparing for supplementary/ATKT exams .
