INTERNATIONAL FOREST DAY CELEBRATED

The P G Department of Zoology, St. Thomas College,Bhilai, in collaboration with department of Zoology TKM college, Kollam, Kerala, has organized a National Webinar on “Forests and Sustainable production and consumption” to celebrate The International Day of Forest, on 21^st of March,2022.  Dr. Kunhamu T K, Professor and Head in the Department of Silvi-culture and Agro-forestry at College of Forestry,  Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur, Kerala and Dr. Utkarsh Ghate, Director, Village Herbs Co. LTD Madhurai & Durg were the eminent resource persons in the webinar. While speaking on the topic “Forest for Ecological Resilience” Dr. Kunhamu mentioned about the alarming carbon emission all over the world and the need to increase carbon sink by planting more trees. Dr. Utkarsh Ghate spoke on the relevance of Agro-forestry and organic farming for carbon neutrality.

Dr. Chitra Gopinath, Principal , TKM College, Kollam, Kerala presided over the function and Dr. Jayasree Balasubramanian, Head Department of Zoology, St. Thomas College, Bhilai welcomed the guests.
