The Undergraduate Course B.Sc. was established in the year 1984 and Post Graduate course M.Sc. in 2011 along with B.Sc. (industrial Chemistry) . Chemistry run parallel with various science subjects botany , zoology, maths , biotechnology and microbiology in different streams B.Sc. plain(Bio & Maths), Micobiotechnology, Biotechnology provides comprehensive learning of Chemistry . It aims to provide a strong practical and theoretical grounding and skills to understand and deal with chemistry.
Main vision of the Department is to inculcate among the students social awareness, skill based knowledge to be a responsible citizen of the society. A tremendous change has been taking place globally in the last two decades in favor of the increased use of chemicals, in Agriculture, Textiles, Drugs, Leather and related industries. Nanotechnology and different fields of Chemistry are emerging as interesting area in this field. Education pertaining to identification of eco-friendly techniques for all chemical processes and environmental pollution is the prime motto of this department.
Our mission stands in is to make maximum effort to strengthen the Department by providing quality education to students to excel better in future and to develop a student Teacher understanding
- STAP: Special teaching assessment program specially meant to assist and embark students with conceptual knowledge of the taught subject , enhance their flair towards the topic and clear their doubts are a frequent part of the department
- DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY comprises of UG and PG books
- INTERNET FACILITY the department is provided with advanced Internet facility to browse subject topics and other related requirements of the students

|Jan 2018||CHEMISTRY QUIZ-2018
A quiz competition was organized by the P.G Department of chemistry under the aegis of ACES (Association of Chemical and Environmental Sciences) titled Chem Quiz -2018 . there were two rounds & the event was opened for B.Sc part –III & M.Sc students . The quiz master was Mrs. Alka Verma ,Research Scholar ,BIT Durg (Alumni member). The theme of the competition was general topics in chemistry & nearly 60-70 students took part in the written test round. The winners of the first round were selected for the second round which included the audio visual, rapid fire ,buzzer & general chemistry round .There were 4 groups of five students each
|The 1st position was bagged by the group comprising Ms.Della M.Joy, Ms. Ekta Singh, Ms. Benu Viswas , Ms. Manisha Chandra, Ms. Sandhya Painkra of M.Sc III sem. Runner up group was of B.Sc part-III comprising Ms. Shruti Pandey, Ms. Anamika Sinha , Ms. Palak Agrawal , Ms.Pushpita Saha, Ms. Ashu Patel. Students were given certificates for good performance.

Under the age’s of ACES students of M.Sc-III sem chemistry attended a day conference on “Recent Advances in Functional Nanomaterials” organized by school of studies in chemistry by Pt. ravishankar Shukla University Raipur in association with S.N Bose National Centre for Basic Sciemces Kolkata. it was a part of 125th birth anniversary of the legendary physicst Prof. Satyendra Nath BoseThe conference was a platform for the student to share scientific knowledge skill and to understand the area of functional Nanomaterials
|All the benefiaries were awarded with certificates and the winner received certificate of appreciation. . Twelve students in two groups participated in poster competition . One group bagged 3rd position Topic was” Application of Nanomaterials in Health care”.|
