CERTIFICATE PROGRAM COMMENCES IN ZOOLOGY DEPARTMENT

A certificate program on “Inland Aquaculture” has been started in the P.G. department of Zoology of St. Thomas College , Bhilai. The program is of 30 hours duration and lasts from 5th to 15th of June,2021. The modules include topics like sustainable aquaculture,major aquaculture system and practices, monoculture, polyculture, pearl culture, Mussel culture, Socio-economic evaluation of Aquaculture Technologies, etc.

Prof. Dr. Madhusoodhana Kurup, Former and Founder Vice Chancellor of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies, Chairman, advisory committee, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture,Ministry of Commerce and Industry, was the key note speaker on the inaugural day of the program. The Principal of the College, Dr.M G Roymon welcomed the guests, Dr. Jayasree Balasubramanan,Convener of the program and Head of Department of Zoology briefed the topics and theme of the certificate program and introduced the resource persons. Dr. Joyamma John, Assistant Professor and Organizing Secretory of the program proposed the vote of thanks.

Renowned fisheries scientists from different regions of India,Dr. M Harikrishnan, Director,School of Industrial Fisheries,CUSAT,Kochi, Dr. K K Anikuttan, Scientist, ICAR-CMFRI, Dr. K.Ganesh, Assistant Director, Marine Products Export Development Authority,Dr.M.K.Anil,Principal Scientist & Head,Vizhinjam Regional Centre of CMFRI, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Dr. K V Radhakrishnan,College of Fisheries,Central Agricultural University,Agartala  and  Dr. T.Ganesh, Dr. S Venu, from Department of Ocean Studies & Marine Biology, Pondichery University,Port Blair Campus  will be the  resource persons in the 15 days program.
