Entrepreneurship development Cell Organized Inaugural Session of the 15 days Certificate Programme

Entrepreneurial Development Cell of St Thomas College Bhilai in collaboration with MOU partner Chhattisgarh Industrial and Technical Consultancy Centre (CITCON) Raipur jointly organizing a 15 days certificate programme on the topic “Entrepreneurship Development” from 18th October to 2nd November 2021.  The Chief Guest of the programme was Prof. (Dr) Aruna Palta Vice Chancellor, Hemchand Yadav Vishwavidyalaya, Durg. At the outset Principal Dr. M.G Roymon welcomed all the guests and participants at the inaugural session and appreciated the efforts of the Entrepreneurial Development Cell in collaboration with CITCON and wished them for smooth conduct of the programme. Administrator of College Rev. Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese appreciated the programme and inspired participants with telling a short story of successful entrepreneur, and he said that existing skills should be shine and upgrade to become a fruitful entrepreneur. Mr. Nimonkar suggested that participants they should not miss one of the classes during these 15 days because every session is relevant to one another.  Dr. Shubha Diwan, Convener of Programme  and Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Bio technology was highlighted the objectives and outcomes of the 30 hours certificate programme on “Entrepreneurship Development”. The programme conducted by Dr. Sunita Kshatriya, Programme Cordinator and Assistant Professor of Commerce. Induction Program for Newly Admitted Students

The Induction Program for Newly Admitted Students organized by St. Thomas College Bhilai on 1st October 2021 in a very friendly environment. The chief guest of this program was H. G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius, Metro Politian Calcutta Diocese and Manager Bishop St. Thomas College Bhilai. On this occasion the Guest of Honour Dr. Aruna Palta, Vice Chancellor Hemchand Yadav Vishvavidyalaya Durg was also present. Even from her very busy schedule she joined the program virtually. Madam congratulated all the new students and said that you have selected the very reputed college of Bhilai with all the academic and other facilities. Chief Guest Manager Bishop H. G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius motivated all the students and said that you will have to maintain a proper balance between your aspirations and the hard work. To become successful in life you have to do hard work with proper planning. On this occasion he also launched to Facebook page of St. Thomas College Bhilai. Administrator of College Rev. Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese heartily welcomed all the students and said that today after Pandemic we are going to start a new beginning. He congratulated all the students for successful completion of their school education. In the beginning of program Principal of College Dr. M. G. Roymon welcomed all the new admitted students and said that in this academic year due to favourable situations the academic year is started in both offline and online mode. At the end he conducted an Oath for all the students for De addiction and to make the Tobacco Free college campus. The live Telecast of this program was done on YouTube. Dr. Susan R. Abraham Head Dept. of Management Studies conducted the program and she provided the detailed information about various departments and clubs by showing video and power point presentation. Dr. V. Shanti Head Dept. of Biotechnology proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Michael Fernandez provided the technical support for the program. On this occasion heads of all the departments, faculties and other staff members were present.

Department of Psychology Acknowledges the Remembrance Day of Sigmund Freud

St. Thomas College, Department of Psychology, remembered Sigmund Freud on his death anniversary with a program on his life and works. Freud developed the theory that humans have an unconscious mind where all unwanted impulses and desires are repressed and they are in perpetual mental conflict with conscious and sub conscious mind. In 1900, his major work ‘The Interpretation of Dreams’ was published in which Freud analyzed dreams in terms of unconscious desires and experiences. Sigmund Freud developed the therapy called Psychotherapy, that is the most prevalent therapy for analysis and cure of mental maladies.

Administrator of the college, Fr. Dr.Joshy Varghese appreciated the program and Principal Dr. M.G. Roymon encouraged the department to conduct such awareness programs. Dr.Debjani Mukherjee, Head, of the department talked about the importance of Freud’s contribution in the field of psychology. Dr.Sumita Singh assistance professor also spoke on the occasion. The program was conducted by Dr.AnkitaDeshmukh, assistant professor department of Psychology.

Workshop on CV and Resume Writing organized

The P.G Department of English at St. Thomas College, Bhilai in collaboration with Sitabai Arts , Science and Commerce college , Akola , Maharashtra, organized a national level workshop on CV and Resume Writing. The workshop was organized with an objective to understand what comprises an effective CV and Resume .The Resource Person of the workshop was Ms. Afreen Shaikh, M.H Saboo Siddik College, Byculla , Mumbai.The workshop commenced with an introduction to Cover Letter. Mrs, Afreen highlighted on the various techniques to build an impressive Resume and CV .The resource person elaborated on  styles of resume and also on common rules and mistakes made in a resume.Principal, Dr. M.G Roymon, St. Thomas College , Bhilai and Dr.R.D. Sikchi, Principal, Sitabai Arts , Commerce and Science College , Akola, Maharastrawere present for the Workshop and applauded both the institution for organising collaborative programme. Dr. Shiny Mendonce , Head ,P.G Department of English , St. Thomas College , Bhilai , extended a warm welcome to all present for the webinar. Dr. Bharti Patnaik , Head , P,G Department of English, Sitabai Arts ,Science and Commerce College , Akola   Maharashtra, proposed vote of thanks. Ms. Diksha Panpaliya (Asst. Prof. Sitabai Arts,Science and Commerce College , Akola)   conducted the programme. Students actively participated in the webinar. The faculty members of both the college provided their generous support in smooth conduct of the workshop.

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organised 15 days certificate programme

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of St. Thomas College Bhilai organised 15 days certificate programme on “Mass Communication- A Tool of Various Dimension” on 14th September 2021. The chief guest of the inaugural was Professor Baldev Bhai Sharma Vice Chancellor of Kushabhau Thackeray University of Journalism and Mass Communication, Raipur and Special Guest was Professor K G Suresh Vice Chancellor of Makhan Lal Chaturvedi Journalism and Mass Communication University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. At the outset Dr. M G Roymon Principal of St Thomas College welcomed all the guest and participants, and appreciated the efforts of the department and wished them for smooth conduct of the programme. Administrator of College Rev. Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese also appreciated the efforts taken by the department for the holistic development of students. Chief Guest  Prof. K G Suresh Vice Chancellor said that the existence of print media has been questioned with the advent of digital media but print media has not ended. He said that print media is not only running in our country but is achieving new heights. There was a misunderstanding that the newspaper spreads corona, but being very vocal about public education, the media has reported risking lives from the crematorium to the cemetery, which has increased the credibility of the print media. Special guest Prof. Baldev Bhai Sharma Vice Chancellor said that in the media one has to work with dedication and not by being comfortable. Increase social responsibility, become a creative journalist, think about building the society and do not do such journalism at all which creates confusion in the society. Both the guest appreciated and congratulated the department for such kind of initiative. And suggested to the participants take the maximum benefit of this programme. The programme was conducted by Dr. Aditi Namdev Programme Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Journalism Department, and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Aparna Ghosh, Convener and Head of Department. COMMUNITY DRIVE BY ST. THOMAS COLLEGE BHILAI

P.G. Department of Chemistry St. Thomas College, Bhilai under the aegis of ACES (Association of Chemical and Environmental Sciences) has started initiative of preparing and distributing sanitizer in view of the COVID-19 pandemic prevention and measurement during admission time. Rev. Father Dr. Joshi Varghese, administrator St. Thomas College has inspired the thought of preparing sanitizer for the service of community especially for the prevention of COVID- 19. At present it is being used at the SBI ATM, the entrance gate and also at the reception counter. Sanitizer was prepared by lab technician Mr. Anil Varghese, Dr. Arvind Kumar Sahu, Asst. Professor under the guidance of Dr. Chanda Verma, Add.HOD and Dr James Mathew, HOD. Dr. M G. Roymon, Principal St. Thomas College appreciated the department for the effort taken for the novel cause.

Campus selection of St. Thomas College Students

The Training and Placement Cell of St.Thomas College,Bhilai conducted a virtual campus placement drive on from 6th to 8th September 2021. The company that conducted interview for the placement drive was OMEGA FINANCIAL, Bhilai. More than 50 students from the college participated in this drive. From BBA VI Semester, Mr.Rahul Kange as Business Development Executive, Mr. Yash   Nagpure as Business Development Executive, Ms Deshna Garg as Customer Care Executive and Ms. Supriya Kumari of B.Com Part III as Business Process Executive got placement. The college administrator Rev. Fr. Joshi Varghese, Principal Dr.M.G. Roymon, TPO Convenor Dr. Sunita Kshatriya, Team members of TPO and all staff members congratulated the students for their future endeavour.

PG Department of Economics Organized Valedictory Session for the 15 days Certificate Programme

PG Department of Economics and Civil Service Aspirants Club jointly organized 15 days certificate programme on the topic “Economics for Civil Service Aspirants” from 16th August to 1st September 2021.  On the completion of this programme the valedictory session was held on 1st September 2021. The chief guest of the programme was Dr. R.N Singh, Principal, Govt. V.Y.T P.G Autonomous College Durg, administrator Rev. Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese of St. Thomas College  graced the occasion and congratulated the department for the effort in this direction. At the outset Principal Dr. M G Roymon welcomed the chief guest, all the dignitaries and participants to the valedictory session. In his welcome address he congratulated the department for the successful organization of the programme. Dr. Mariam Jacob convener and Head of the Department of Economics gave a summary report of the 15 days programme  also highlighted the interactive session with Mr. Anant Verma, Sub Inspector of Intelligence Bureau Raipur and Dr. Bhependra Kuldeep, Deputy Registrar of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur.  The Chief Guest Dr. R.N Singh, in this address appreciated  the effort taken by the Department and said the selection of the topic for the certificate programme was unique in itself and was a challenge, which the department successfully completed in the course of time. The session was interactive and suggested books and journals for the civil service aspirants. The programme was conducted by Dr. Aparna Ghosh, Programme Coordinator and Faculty of Economics and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Sheeja Varkey, Co-coordinator, and  Faculty of  Commerce.

Online Certificate Programme on Research Methodology

The P.G. Department of Commerce and Committee for Promotion of Research in association with Smt. Radhadevi Goenka College for Women Akola Maharashtra has collaboratively organised an Online Certificate course on Research Methodology from  August 5th , 2021 to August 19th, 2021. The Inaugural session of the programme was held on 5th August. Dr. B.G. Singh Vice Chancellor Pt. Sundarlal Sharma Open University, Chhattisgarh Bilaspur , was the chief guest on the occasion. Sir emphasised on the change in the role of research in the present scenario. The Key note Speaker was Dr.Ashutosh Biswal , Prof.Department of Education & Psychology, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda Gujarat . Sir gave a very good suggestion to develop the culture of research in the colleges which will be  valuable for the research scholars and we will be having a good research in future. The Principal of the college Dr. M. G. Roymon Welcomed the guest and the participants and recognised the presence of the manager of the college H.G .Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius .The Principal of the MoU Partner Smt. The programme started with a formal inauguration. 227 participants from various colleges registered themselves including the students , faculty members and research scholars of various institutes, Dr. Sapna Sharma Head, Department of Commerce St. Thomas College  and convener, of the  programme gave the overview of the 15 days activities.Dr. Sonia Popli Asst. Prof. Education department and coordinator of the programme conducted the programme . Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Majju Joy. Asst Prof .department of education of St. Thomas College Bhilai. The management and the Administrator of the College Rev. Father Dr. Joshi Varghese congratulated the department and the committee for conducting such programme and opined that such type of programmes will definitely help the research scholars of social sciences to come up with better research.
