5 Day Workshop for Student Development

“Chhattisgarh is the most preferred place for entrepreneurship”

Bhilai : St. Thomas College, Bhilai’s Department of Economics
has organized a Five-Day virtual workshop for student development on “Entrepreneurial Ability, Opportunity and Personality Development” from 23rd April, 2021 to 27th April, 2021. Dr. Aruna Palta, Vice Chancellor of Hemchand Yadav University, Durg was the Chief Guest of this event. The guest speaker for Day 1 of this workshop was Dr. P. K Nimonkar, State Head of Chhattisgarh Industrial and Technical Consultancy (CITCON), Raipur.

The event was headed by Dr. Aparna Ghosh, Assistant Professor of the Department of Economics, under the guidance of Principal, Dr. M.G Roymon and Dr. Mariam Jacob, HOD of Dept. of Economics. Dr. M.G Roymon delivered a welcome speech at the beginning of this event. Bishop His Grace, Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius, Manager of St. Thomas College and Father Dr. Joshi Varghese, Administrator of the college, appreciated the workshop and greeted everyone. Dr. Aruna Palta gave a short speech after which Dr. Nimonkar began his presentation on the topic “Business and enterpreneurial opportunity in Chhattisgarh.”

Dr. Nimonkar brought the fact to light that Chhattisgarh is the most preferred place for entrepreneurship. He went on to highlight the reasons behind this. Chhattisgarh being the 9th largest state in India is only at the 17th position in terms of population. This shows that it has ample place available for development. Chhattisgarh also has good transportation system, robust telecom infrastructure and abundance of minerals and agricultural products. All of these make Chhattisgarh an ideal place for entrepreneurship. He spoke in great detail about the various agricultural products and industries that are flourishing in the state and also threw light on the Industrial Policies.

After the presentation, Dr. Nimonkar cleared the queries of the students. Dr. Mariam Jacob concluded the event by giving a Vote of Thanks to all the participants of the workshop. The guest speaker for the 2nd day of the workshop, Mr. Chandrahas Behar, Retd. IAS Officer, Raipur will speak about “Self Management”. Day 3’s guest speaker, Mr. Vivek Joglekar, Academic Director of Aadharshila Vidya Mandir, Bilaspur will speak on the topic “How to face an interview ?”. Day 4’s guest speaker, Mr. Kaustubh Dharmadhikary, Director and owner of KAPS Ice-cream, Raipur, will speak about “Pursuing enterpreneuship as a career”, and the special guest of the final day of the workshop, Dr. Prasant Shrivastava, Dean Student Welfare, Hemchand Yadav University, Durg will be speak on “Personality Development”.
