Swacha Bharat Campaign and Tree Plantation Drive

Swacha Bharat Campaign and Tree Plantation Drive held at St. Thomas College ,Bhilai .

The NSS and NCC Wing of St. Thomas College Bhilai has taken up a massive tree plantation program under the aegis of Swachata Pakawada. The Swachata Campaign began by taking an Oath and conducting awareness program on environment and cleanliness through rally to the nearby Ruabandha Basti. Shri Nilesh Choubey from (Ministry of Youth), Nehru Yuva Kendra Durg and Shri Rangbahadur, Corporator, Ruabhandha  Sector were invited as the guest for the program . The Swachata Campaign was followed by Tree Plantation in the College Campus. The Horticulture Department of CG Govt provided the saplings for the tree plantation. Administrator of the college Rev. Fr. George Mathew Ramban and Principal of the College Dr. M.G. Roymon participated in the tree plantation drive along with the invited guests. Shri Nitesh Choubey encouraged students to plant more trees and to take care of their plantations thereafter. Shri Rangbahadur Corporator said that more and more plants should be grown to keep the environment clean, safe and healthy. Principal of the college Dr. M.G. Roymon welcomed the gathering and exhorted the students to keep India clean for the development of the Country. The initiative of the program was taken by Lt. Surekha Jawade, Dr. Lakshman Prasad (NCC Officer), Smt. Deepti Santosh NSS Officer. Present on the occasion for tree plantation were  Shri Sanjay Bagade, (Zonal Officer), Shri Jagannath Kushwaha (S.I), Punit Banjare,(Health Paryavekshak Officer), Shri Virendra Deshmukh, Shri Ramji and Shri Brijesh Kumar Kashyap. Others who planted trees included Cadets of NCC, volunteers of NSS Wing, members of Staff  and Students of various departments.
