Mar Theodosieus Cricket Match on 26 th January

ANNUAL MAR THEODOSIUS INTER COLLEGE FACULTY CRICKET MATCH BETWEEN CCET BHILAI AND ST THOMAS RUABANDHA

On the occasion of 69th Republic Day of India, an Inter College Faculty Cricket Match was held between St Thomas College, Ruabandha and Christian College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), Bhilai at the latter’s campus. To encourage healthy competition amongst peers and showcase our nation’s motto of Unity in Diversity, this annual match is held in the memory of the founder of St Thomas Mission, Late Lamented Bishop Dr Stephanos Mar Theodosius. To inspire and motivate their teams the Executive Vice Chairman of CCET, Fr Jose K Varghese, the Bursar Fr Aju K Varghese, the Principal of St Thomas College, Dr M G Roymon were present at the CCET’s cricket ground along with faculties and students. This match was inaugurated with a friendly spell of Fr Jose K Varghese faced by Dr M G Roymon. After winning the toss, St Thomas College scored at a blistering pace and thanks to a rapid-fire 48 runs by Mr Mahendra, they were able put a mammoth total of 125 runs in just 12 overs. The run chase by CCET started smoothly thanks to a blitzkrieg by Mr Shadab Imam and Mr Anil David. At this point the target seemed within grasp but due to tightly controlled and disciplined spells of Best Bowler of the Match, Mr Ashok and Man of the Match, Mr Mahendra, CCET were left to score 17 runs in the penultimate over. At this point CCET capsized under pressure and fell short by 13 runs to concede the third Mar Theodosius Tournament to St Thomas Ruabandha. The Man of the Match was awarded to Mr Mahendra due to his exploits by both bat and ball. Best Batsman of the Match was given to Mr Shadab Imam, Best Bowler of the Match was won by Mr Ashok and Best Fielder of the Match was given to Mr Anil David. The prizes were distributed by the Bursar of CCET, Fr Aju K Varghese, who had encouraged each and every player. Fr Jose K Varghese and Dr M G Roymon extended their heartfelt gratitude to the organizers of this tournament.
