National Sports Day Celebration

St. Thomas College, Ruabandha, Bhilai celebrated National Sports Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Famous Indian Hockey Player Major Dhyanchand. First of all Sports Officer Mr. Kailash Narayan Verma presented a brief introduction of Major Dhyanchand and motivated all the students for regular exercise to become fit and healthy. Principal Incharge Dr. Debjani Mukherjee also motivated the students to take active participation in the events of sports day. Principal of the college Dr. M. G. Roymon and Administrator Rev. Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese congratulated the organizers for successfully organizing this event. During the program Half Marathon was organized for both boys and girls and all the winners were awarded by the prizes from Principal Incharge and other faculty members. On this occasion Rhythmic Zumba was conducted by Dr. Anupama Gangrade Asst. Prof. Dept. of Education in which all the students and staff members participated very actively. Dr. J Maju Asst. Prof. Dept. of Education and Dr. Santosh Miri Asst. Prof. Dept. of Computer Science were the referees of today’s activity. Mr. Mahendra Ikhar, Asst. Prof. Dept. of Management Studies conducted the program and proposed the vote of thanks. All the faculties, other staff members and students were present on this occasion.

Guest Lecture on Career Decisions after Graduation

Training and Placement office and PG Department of Commerce had jointly organized a Guest Lecture on“Career Decisions after Graduation” for the students of Commerce Stream on 17th August,2023. Mr. Siddharth Mehta, Alumnus, XLRI was the Resource Person on this occasion. Mr. Abish Thomas,M. Com Final year student of the Department of Commerce, anchored the whole session. The session was conducted for the purpose of special guidance program on MBA. The program was conducted in association with Training and Placement Office of the College. Dr.Sapna Sharma,HOD of Department of Commerce, Dr.Sheeja Varkey, Additional HOD of the Department of Commerce, Dr.Sunita Kshatriya,Convener of Training and Placement Office,Dr.Rincey B Abraham,Dr.Aditi Acharya, Dr.Pratik Kumar Sharma,Dr.Neelam Gandhi and Miss. Tabassum Sheikh were present in the session. The session presided with the prayer. The Welcome Speech was given by Mr.Bijoy Kujur. Next,the guidance class was conducted by our special guest on the career guidance on MBA. A total of 100 students attended the session. The session created valuable thoughts in the minds of everyone. Lastly,the session ended with a Vote of Thanks by Miss.Tusharika Sharma. The session lastly ended with the National Anthem.

Mega Tree Plantation

Department of Education, National Service Scheme and IQAC of  St. Thomas College, Ruabandha Bhilai organized Mega Tree Plantation in collaboration with Lions Club Bhilai Royal on 28th July, 2013. The chief guest of this program was Mr. Anil Agrawal, GLT Coordinator Lions Club Bhilai Royal. First of all Administrator of the college Rev. Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese appreciated the efforts taken by college towards environment safety. Principal of College Dr. M. G. Roymon welcomed all the guests and explained the importance of plants for the safety of environment. Chief guest Mr. Anil Agrawal gave his best wishes to the college for organizing this program. Mr. Abhishek Agrawal, President Lions Club Bhilai Royal presented a brief report about the programs run by club for environment safety. On this occasion all the guests, NSS volunteers and other staff members planted many trees of various fruits. The program was conducted by Dr. Anupama Gangrade, Assistant Professor Dept. of Education and Vote of thanks was proposed by NSS Program Officer Mr. Mahendra Ikhar. On this occasion IQAC Coordinator Dr. Debjani Mukherjee, Co-convener of NSS Dr. Maju Joy, Sports officer Mr. Kailash Narayan Verma, other faculties and staff members were present.

77th Independence Day celebrated

On occasion of 77th Independence Day, a patriotic and colorful program was organized in St. Thomas College, Ruabandha Bhilai. First of all Principal Incharge Dr. Chanda Verma hoisted the National Flag and congratulated all the staff members and students for celebrating 77th Independence Day. She also motivated all students to be always ready and dedicated to serve the nation.  Dr. Kiran Bala Das, Asst. Professor PG Dept. of Economics and Dr. Neetu Raj Asst. Professor PG Dept. of zoology shared their patriotic views on this occasion.  This initial program was conducted by NCC Female Officer Dr. Surekha Jawade. After this session a cultural program with patriotic songs, poems, speeches and colorful dance was conducted in joint collaboration with NCC and NSS unit of the college. Principal Incharge Dr. Chanda Verma also conducted Oath Taking for students to stop and avoid ragging in college campus. The cultural program was conducted by NSS Volunteers Khomendra Sahu and Dhriti Vaishnav and vote of thanks was proposed by NSS Program Officer Mr. Mahendra Ikhar. During the program IQAC coordinator Dr. Debjani Mukherjee, heads of various departments, other faculties and staff members were present in the program.

St. Thomas College Bhilai, P. G Department of Psychology Conducts Workshop on the Occasion of National Counselling Psychology Day

The P.G Department of Psychology St Thomas College, Bhilai under the aegis of Psychometrician conducted a workshop on techniques of Counselling. The session was very engaging where training focused on various theoretical perspectives and practical knowledge on how to set up a private practice. The main idea behind this session was the inculcating awareness on which techniques to use in different psychopathological cases.

The resource person of the program was Dr. Kirti Sachdeva, practicing Psychologist and Counsellor, Mumbai. The resource person has MPhil degree in Clinical Psychology  from JNU, Delhi and PhD from Delhi University and is at present  practicing in Mumbai. The diagnosis, interventions applied and the future scenario of counselling in India was also explained to the students. The studentslearned about the techniques through which resistance in the counselling process can be resolved and fruitful behaviour modifications can be achieved through various directive, non directive  and eclectic techniques of counselling.

Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese, Administrator of the college appreciated the program, Principal Dr. M.G. Roymon always promotes experiential learning processes for the students and believes that to achieve expertise, the main learning is through gaining practical insights in any field. Dr. Debjani Mukherjee, HOD, spoke on the occasion and motivated the students to gain knowledge of various therapies and wisdom from experienced speaker.

Assistant Professors Dr.Sumita Singh welcomed the gathering and Dr. Ankita Deshmukh proposed the vote of thanks.  Miss. Sanchana Sahu organised the program and helped in its smooth execution. The session was compered by Ms. Dally Jain, MA 3rd semester.

Anti Ragging Awareness Week

Ms Jhilam Sahu qualified CSIR JRF with AIR 163 in Physics

Ms Jhilam Sahu, a student of the Department of Physics & Electronics, St. Thomas College, Bhilai of batch 2021-22 has cleared the CSIR-NTA NET/JRF with AIR 163. She completed her B.Sc. then belongs to the first batch of M.Sc. Physics of the College. She was also the first student  in the College who earned a certificate from NPTEL.

Administrator Rev. Fr. Dr. Joshi Varghese and the Principal Dr. M. G. Roymon gave their blessing for her achievement. Incharge of the Department of Physics & Electronics Mr. Amit Kumar Tamrakar, Mrs. Tulika Harshit, Ms Priya Sai and Mr Suryaprasad Singh congratulated her by giving best wishes for her bright future ahead.

Orientation Program for newly admitted students

Department of Management Studies, St. Thomas College, Ruabandha Bhilai organized one day Orientation Program for newly admitted students of BBA First Semester. The keynote speaker of this program was Dr. Susan R. Abraham Head, Department of Management Studies. First of all madam has provided the basic details of department and course and then she presented the structure of curriculum and pattern of semester examination. It is worth mentioning that department of management studies is running in the college successfully for last 24 years. Principal Dr. M.G. Roymon congratulated to the department for successfully organizing the orientation program and said that St. Thomas College Bhilai provides the best platform to students to excel their academic as well as personal skills on regular intervals. Mr. Mahendra Ikhar Assistant Professor, Dept. Of Management Studies gave presentation on Effective Presentation Skills. This program was coordinated by BBA students Aryan Vishwakarma, Guatam Jaiswal, Neeraj, Nidhi Gaikwad and Ananya Pandey.

“ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBAARA” an Awareness Program

The PG. Department of Commerce organised an Awareness Program “ZINDAGI  NA MILEGI  DOBAARA” in collaboration with Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries Bhilai Branch on 20/7/2023. The program focused on Cyber Crime (safety and awareness), Road safety, Self reliance with self employment and healthy life style Mr. Ajay Bhasin Secretary Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce was the Chief Guest. Mr.Ajay Bhasin said that the students should take every opportunity in life and asked students to come forward to make India a developed nation The Principal of the college Dr. M. G. Roymon presided over the program, in his presidential address Sir said that such type of awareness programs are beneficial for the students and they should try to implement it in their day today life. Mr. Aseem Sehgal an International Wellness Coach urged the students to lead a healthy life which can be possible through disciplined life style. Mr. Niladri Shah a successful business and alumni of St. Thomas College shared his experiences and encouraged the students to come with good start ups .Mr. Bodhan Sahu Traffic Inspector gave necessary instructions to the students. Mr. Mohammad Hirani a successful businessman was also present on the occasion. Dr.Sapna Sharma Head PG. Department of Commerce welcomed the gathering. The program was conducted by Dr. Neelam Gandhi Asst. Prof PG. Department of Commerce .Mr.Shankar Sachdev helped in coordinating the program. IQAC Co-ordinator and Head PG. Department of Psychology DR. Debjani Mukherjee was present on the occasion. The program was attended by the staff and students of commerce and other departments. The students actively participated in the activities which were held for them.
